Shavuot

I was away over the weekend and today because I was busy getting ready for Shavuot. Between the tambourine practice, Shabbat and then the preparation period before the Shavuot Shabbat begins, I was busy getting various food dishes ready-two for tow different potlucks and then my family meals on top of that-a lot of cooking and not a lot of time.

For those of you unfamiliar with this holiday, Shavuot is when:

1) eligion, spiritualityGod gave the commandments at Mount Sinai and
2) When the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) fell on the Apostles, they spoke in tongues and added over 3,000 to their numbers.

Shavuot is a Shabbat-so no ordinary work is to be done on that day-hence all the work the day before. We also had service last night, so it was good but busy.

Now I am back to business as usual.

I didn’t realize Shavuot was the modern Jewish equivalent of Pentecost. I just wrote a post on the subject of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit connecting it w/ various concepts in other religions including Judaism. Thanks for the info, I’ll go look into it more!
