Status Quo

HSLDA confounds me as an organization. In Kansas there is a battle going on over lowering the compulsory school atttendance age. Hopefully it will not change but this line from one of HSLDA’s e-lerts is interesting:

In addition, this bill will extend the state’s truancy and oversight power over your homeschool another year.”

They admit that the current law extends state power over homeschool, and since they do not want that power extended, they believe that power is a bad thing.

I agree that state power over homeschool is a bad thing. I don’t understand why HSLDA is okay with the state power remaining at the status quo. Isn’t it bad to have state power at all? Something they do admit in this e-elrt?

Yet they have no interest in removing the state power, as long as it stays in the status quo.

Baffling.

    Preach it!!!!

Maybe they think it’s an impossible battle and they’re chipping at the edges? I don’t know. But I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Thanks Mrs. C! It’s nice to have someone else see what I see.

I don’t know if they think it’s an impossible battle or not. That’s why they confuse me.

It is illogical to say state power is a bad thing, and then be content to let that state power stand.
