Especially if you are innocent. Tamar Yonah has an interesting blog post on this subject and she includes two videos. The first one is a professor telling why innocent people should never say anything to the police. The second one has a retired police officer (28 years of service at least) standing up to say that everything the professor said was true.
The videos also explain why the “if you have nothing to hide, why don’t you cooperate mindset” is a false argument.
