This school district in Maryland is expecting 2,300 parents to show up in court this Saturday because their students did not get vaccinated or get their booster shots. The school decided to bar those students from school until they are immunized.

Yes you read that correctly. The school created the truancy problem and now they are charging parents with truancy!!

“This is an educational crisis,” said R. Owen Johnson Jr., chairman of the school board. “This is a public health and a children’s rights issue.”

Nichols and Ivey sent another round of letters to the families still out of compliance. Nichols’s letter ordered the parents to show up at Prince George’s Circuit Court for a court hearing and a free vaccine; Ivey’s letter warned that “unexcused absences by your child may subject you to a criminal charge.”

According to the chairman of the school board, children only have the right to be vaccinated, they don’t have the right to refuse. What an odd definition of someones rights.

Maryland, like any other state, does indeed have an exemption or waiver form. If there is a state approved form for a waiver, then it is not a law. We don’t have waivers from laws, but we do have waivers from mandates-even the article says that this is a mandate, not a law.

I hope the majority of parents in this county will understand and stick up for their rights this Saturday.
